Dear Blowing Rock Homeowners,
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
As you know, we have advocated with the County and Town to provide 24/7 transport ambulance service to all residents of Blowing Rock and throughout the County to meet the national standard of 90/9. The national standard is designed to drive performance to reach all emergency calls within 9 minutes, 90% of the time. Only Boone meets this standard and the County has refused to make this goal a priority throughout the County.
Recently Beech Mountain had to agree to fund the service for their area at a cost of $500K when Boone is not asked to fund their service. Providing transport ambulance service is the delegated responsibility by franchise rights for the County from the State. The County Commission has prioritized capital projects over the health and safety of all residents.
Mayor Charlie Sellers will speak at the Watauga County Commission meeting tomorrow night, May 24, 2022 on this topic.
Please join Mayor Sellers tomorrow night at 5:30 to show our support for the funding the need.
Public Comments are allowed at the end of the meeting, but you must sign the speakers list at the beginning of the meeting
Directions – The Commission Chambers are located in the Administrative Building at 814 West King Street in downtown Boone. Parking is free after 5 pm in nearby lots.
Regards
Jean Kitchin
