Greetings from BRCA 28605! Boy I miss Dache! Hope you saw him in the videos the last two weeks. We drove him to Arlington Tuesday to reunite with his family and drove back to BR yesterday. Here are some of “this week’s happenings”.
Incredible New BRP App Available
The husband of Carly Farmer Proett created a new App for the Blue Ridge Parkway that provides information on open, closed, gated, and ungated sections or the parkway. With all the construction this summer this is a very helpful tool. Thank you! Its free in the App Store.
EMS & Town Meeting
We have reserved the American Legion building for June 15, 2026, for a town wide introduction to our new Ambulance service. We want to recognize our County Commissioners and introduce our town to the new EMS director. Our plan is to include all citizens having an opportunity to talk with your EMS Director, County Commissioners, and have a “hands-on” experience with one of the new trucks. We have requested data on number and type of first responder calls and EMS and Fire Department numbers from the county and will be sharing those as we begin our season. Please save the date, June 15 at 5:00 PM at the American Legion. We are marketing this alongside the Chamber of Commerce.
Working on Town Meeting for Fire Safety & Prevention
In a discussion with Blowing Rock Fire Marshal Jason Roten after the Collins fire he stated that since the 1970’s he can’t remember a time when Blowing Rock had three total loss structure fires in three months. BRCA will coordinate a town meeting for all citizens to attend an information session on fire safety & prevention. It will probably be in August at the American Legion Building. We want to raise the awareness on this important and dangerous issue.

Tags to be attached with our compliments have been ordered and as soon as we can get them assembled, we will distribute in the community free of charge.
