Greetings from BRCA 28605 and welcome to a very cold Monday morning here. We currently sit at our high temperature for the day, 16. As our Winter Storm Warning is extended to 4:00 PM today with a couple of inches of snow predicted. We missed the blunt of the ice storm, but roads remain very treacherous. Nothing is moving here. Town Hall is closed today, the Council Winter Retreat postponed till next week, winds are howling out of the north with wind gusts predicted to 50 mph and wind chills as high as -50.
Bistro Roca Fire
Many of you have heard about the devastating fire yesterday. We woke to news that Bistro Roca was on fire. Throughout the day photos and video were posted on the Blowing Rock Community Page on Facebook. The building was totally destroyed. We applaud the First Responders and their heroic efforts in brutal conditions.
Opportunity to Help
The Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce has established a website for our community to provide financial assistance to the 60 or so employees affected by this loss. Per the Chamber website:
We are raising funds to help the staff of Bistro Roca who will be displaced from their jobs.
- DONATIONS through the Blowing Rock Chamber are not tax deductible.
- The Blowing Rock Chamber will donate all processing fees.
- Funds will be distributed to the staff equally.
- The Blowing Rock chamber has a CPA and all transactions will be reconciled and documented.
