PUBLIC NOTICE: Green Park Inn
A neighborhood informational meeting will be held at the Green Park Inn on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 5:00 PM for the following item:
- Conditional Rezoning (R-6M to CZ-GB, General Business) – Green Park Inn
John Winkler is requesting a conditional rezoning of the Green Park Inn property at 9239 Valley Blvd from R-6M, Multi-family to Conditional Zoning – General Business (CZ-GB). The Applicant is requesting to partially demolish the Green Park Inn and salvage and restore parts of the hotel and retain 40 of the 88 existing hotel rooms. Additionally, the Applicant proposes to construct 12 condominiums and 8 duplex units on the property. The property is further identified by Watauga County PIN 2817-42-2568-000.
This meeting is for informational purposes and for the exchange of questions and concerns about the proposed conditional rezoning request. A Planning Board meeting will be scheduled to follow for public comment and a public hearing will be scheduled for Town Council review and consideration. Written comments may also be submitted to the Planning Board, PO Box 47, Blowing Rock, NC, 28605. Plans for the proposed development are available for public inspection at the Town Office during normal business hours; or questions may be directed to the Planning Director at (828) 295-5240.
The neighborhood meeting will be held at the Green Park Inn at 9239 Valley Blvd. The Green Park Inn is ADA accessible.

Blowing Rock Priorities 2025 & Winter Retreat
Kudos to Watauga Democrat for great reporting! Tere is a link (below) about BR. The article mentions they will be constructing new emergency base in 2025 and also working on comm improvements including new towers. This is county level. Neither topic mentioned in the TOBR section. Town Council Winter Retreat will be held t the Blowing Rock Conference Center (not American Legion) on January 28-30, 2025. Downtown Development Subcommittee
The next meeting will be at Town Hall on January 8th, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Town Hall. There will be a Public Information Workshop for citizens on January 22, 2025, from 4:00-7:00 PM. Work on content is now being developed. Look for information on an upcoming survey in your water bill. You can also find the survey at:

Winterfest 2025
The 2025 Blowing Rock Winterfest will take place from January 23–26, 2025. The event is presented by the Blowing Rock Chamber of Commerce and will be held at 132 Park Avenue, Blowing Rock, NC 28605. Tickets for the event will go on sale in December 2024. Event link here:
