Continued Hurricane Recovery

CBS Evening News Reports on Newland!

We want to share a story received today from Margaret Thele at Grandfather Mountain Stewardship Foundation and take a moment to express our gratitude to those writing checks to them to help with providing propane.  Thank you!

From GMSF:

We have received a handful of checks dedicated for propane, which is fantastic! There is a healthy fund balance for it and we have partnered with Blue Ridge Propane, who will go to people’s homes and fill up their tanks there as well as fill smaller portable tanks at their business office. Additionally, we are working with the Mobile Station at the top of Three Mile Hwy, who fill kerosene tanks. Kerosene is quite expensive right now, over $5 per gallon, and those with monitor heaters have to have kerosene. We are happy to be able to help and so grateful to you to help get the word out!

I wanted to share this segment from CBS Evening News that aired on Tuesday night about Newland and the hurricane recovery. It is a great story and we are so glad that the area is remaining spotlighted on the national level. Please feel free to share the link through the electronic newsletter that you send out. One thing to mention, is that this story really highlights a lot of the need still remaining in the area, but we want to continue to emphasis that our region is open and welcoming visitors. We all need the business dollars that come with visitors and it will help the many businesses that are struggling right now to keep their doors open.
